By Dave Merchant [email protected] Some people have minds that like puzzles and problem solving. Chelsea senior athlete Zander Hartsuff is one such student. He is currently in the middle of swim season. He swims the 50 and 100 free, the backstroke and butterfly. “The 100 Free is my favorite,” Hartsuff said. “I do a better job in 100 when I get to the third lap.” Zander did well with cross country and will run the mile and two mile in track. He will be running cross country and track at Calvin University. “I have a very data analytical mind,” he said. “I like puzzles and think a career in both would be awesome.” AP Calculus is his favorite class. Mr. Pedlow is his favorite teacher and Eric Swager is his favorite coach. His mother is Bonnie Hartsuff. His father is Gregg Hartsuff and his step mother is Patricia Miranda Hartsuff. His brother also competes in sports. Liam who is 19 runs at Sienna Heights and according to Zander is faster than him. His younger brother Bram who is 14 competes with him in swimming and running. He has good advice to athletes: “Don’t waste time,” he said. “Wasting time wastes potential. In sports and practice always go above and beyond.”
