By Dave Merchant [email protected] Josiah Fitch is a senior with gifts in three sports. He plays football, wrestles, and competes in track and field. His sports honors are listed below: Football Accomplishments: - 2x Ann Arbor Area Dream Team - All conference - Team captain Wrestling accomplishments: - Team Captain - All District - All Region - State Qualifier Track and Field accomplishments: - All Region - State Qualifier “My favorite moment from sports was probably this year against Pioneer where we were losing with only a few seconds left, and we threw a Hail Mary to Joe Taylor for the game winning touchdown,” Josiah said. “I was so in shock that we won that game, I absolutely couldn’t believe it. That was one of the closest games I’ve ever experienced, and one I will never forget.” He likes school. “My favorite class was most likely AP Language, or Chemistry,” he said. “While these weren’t easy classes by any means, I certainly learned the most in these two classes because I expanded my knowledge of writing and rhetoric in my AP Language class, and in Chemistry, I not only learned Chem, but I learned more life lessons from my teacher than I do with most others.” “This goes well into my favorite teacher because my favorite teachers are the ones who teach more than just the curriculum, but lessons you need in your life. I don’t know if I can narrow it down to a single teacher, but Mr. Moundros, Mr. Mitchell, and Mr. Zainea all have done that for me,” Josiah stated. “My plan for the future is to attend Spring Arbor University and throw for their track and field team,” he added. “Hopefully, God willing, I will be able to get into dental school after that and become a dentist.” His parents are Jeff and Chrissy Fitch, and he has one younger brother, Caleb. His hobbies consist of playing a lot of sports and being active. Josiah also enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing acoustic guitar or singing. “My advice for younger athletes is to practice the way you play, and to never take for granted the blessing you get to participate in sports,” he said. “People always told me “it will be over faster than you know it” and I didn’t realize until now that it was true. Don’t let a practice or game or workout slip by where you aren’t giving your best effort, because it will be over faster than you know it.” He is very religious. “I don’t think I have anything else to contribute other than I want people to know that I am a Christian who loves Jesus, and I want my life to reflect that,” he added. “I want people to know that if they have any questions about anything related to Christianity, that I will gladly talk about it with them and show them what Jesus did for them.”
