![]() By Charla Hamilton charlachelseaguardian@gmail.com The Hometown Holiday Festivities kicked off on Friday December 6 with the tree lighting in Pierce Park. Highlights of the weekend festivities included the annual Light Parade, Santa’s Workshop, Gingerbread House Decorating and much more. The festivities ended with a holiday Christmas Carol Concert on Sunday evening. Participants in the concert are Chelsea Chamber Players, Chelsea First United Methodist Church Choir, Chelsea High School Choir and some students from the Chelsea High School Orchestra. Denise Cugliari (Communications & Administrative Assistant for Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, and Events Coordinator for Chelsea Area Festivals and Events) had this to say about the Hometown Holiday festivities: “Hometown Holiday weekend has always been a great way to kick off the holiday season and this year was no exception. It is wonderful to see families taking advantage of the free events and enjoying all the shops in our community! Hometown Holiday weekend is a testament to the blessing that we live in an active, thriving, and caring community. None of this would be possible without the amazing sponsors, volunteers, Hometown Holiday Committee Members and Chelsea Area Festivals and Events. I cannot possibly say "thank you" enough to everyone that was involved in planning this event!” Jennifer Fairfield, owner of The Garden Mill in Chelsea added: “It’s always great to see the streets – along with the shops and restaurants – of Chelsea filled with families in the holiday spirit.”
