Chelsea might have a small soccer team but they have some serious talent.
Senior Cannon Barney is one of those talented players. He plays soccer almost year round.
“I play soccer for the High School and Club soccer for Northville Rush,” Cannon Barney said. “I play Center Defensive Midfield and Center Back.
In high school he has had some good memories: “When we beat Ann Arbor Huron last year 2-0 and tied Dexter 1-1,” he said.
His favorite subject is Science and his favorite teacher is Lonnie Mitchell. “My favorite coaches are all of them (all my coaches are great because they all bring something unique that strengthens my weaknesses),” he said. “Shout-out to Thabiso Khumalo on my Northville Rush Club Team.”
His favorite class was AP Bio.“I enjoy fishing, playing soccer, Scouts, hanging out with friends, and watching Netflix,” he said.
His dad is Ryan Barney and his mom is Amber Barney and
siblings in order of oldest to yougest are Layton, Ridge, Sage, India, and Gianna.
He has good goals: “I plan on playing soccer in college and working to become a dentist,” he added. “Not sure where I will be attending college though.”
He offers this advice to younger players: “Practice makes perfect,” he said. “Going to the field each and every day not only strengthens you physically, but it also strengthens you mentally. It allows you to get more comfortable and confident on the ball during games.”
