Kitty & Company will be conducting a series of short interviews with Chelsea Residents for 52 weeks, bringing to light differing personalities and design styles in our community.  Perhaps you will meet someone new through these weekly interviews or perhaps it will be YOU! Stay tuned and follow us each week – we now introduce you to Katie Litzinger.
What is your profession? I’ve been in and out of Banking my entire working career which totals about 15 years. I love banking and getting to know my customers. I also do a little photography on the side since I got my degree in 2000.
Your family members: I have a son, Ethan and a dog named Kallie. ♥️
People think of me as: Chrissy, but really I am Katie. It happens almost every day as I have an identical twin sister!
When did you move to Chelsea? I grew up in Chelsea. I then moved to Brighton in 2002 and moved back to Chelsea in 2016.
What do you love about where you currently live?  I currently live in a condominium in Chelsea. I chose these condos because of how new and updated they are, the location, and mainly because of the pool, which I hope to use next year!  I love the community of Chelsea!
If you could have a second home anywhere, where would it be? Southern California, like LA or Orange County area.  We almost moved to Rancho Cucamonga at one point and have been interested in the climate there.

What three words describe your style? Modern. Contemporary. Minimalist.
As you think about the home in which you grew up, what elements did you like and do you think you have incorporated some of them in your own home?
The decor in the home I grew up in is nothing like what my style is today. However, I love the fact that my childhood home was a “home” in the sense of a loving family unit, but as far as influencing my decor choices......let’s just say there is no resemblance at all.
What are you most inspired by in your design/decor?  I love modern, updated decor. I like simple, yet classy styles.
When entering your home, how do you want it to feel? I hope visitors feel warm and welcome, but also notice a bright, airy and open feeling.  I will also add I hope the environment invokes the feelings of  being classy and stylish.
What is one trend in design you do NOT like?  I don’t really like the rustic/farmhouse style.
Have you ever built a new home or remodeled an existing one?   I have not built a new home but have remodeled an existing one. It’s so fun to design your own space. The home in Brighton had an unfinished basement that we turned it into a really cool  recreation and gaming area.
What is the one biggest interior design issue you struggle with?
Fitting my stuff into the space in which I have!
Which room in your home gets the most use? I would have to say my living room area since that is the biggest space in my condo and I can work on all my projects there.
Name an item you purchased for your home that you regret buying:
I don’t have many possessions because I am very selective in what I do buy, therefore, really I have no regrets.

No room is complete without:   A meaningful photograph of your family, friends, and or  places to which you have traveled.
If you are a pet owner, how has that influenced your choices in design, if it has?  I am a pet owner and you can definitely tell that when you walk into my home. I converted an end table into a dog bed and she absolutely loves it! I also made her, her very own armoire for all her clothes and accessories. She is a tad bit spoiled.
I tend to be: Minimalist.
What did you do to pass the time during the COVID-19 State shutdown? I went to Lake Huron and Lake Michigan to look for Petoskey Stones! I hand sanded them, polished them and even made a few necklaces out of them. The coolest thing I did was I made a Petoskey River stone table for the first time (with the help of my friends and YouTube.) It is one of my most prized possessions!
If you were moving and could only pick one item from your home to keep, which would it be and why?  My Petoskey side table!
If you were given $1,000 to buy a new piece of art, what would it be?
A modern abstract with bold lines and colors.

A few of your favorite things!
Movie -Too many! Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle. Daddy’s Home 2. Mamma Mia 2.
Historical Place You Have Visited-  Paris
Season-Fall
Scent - Cinnamon Apple
Song, Artist or style of Music- Again, too many! Casting Crowns. Christian contemporary. Broadway music. Light rock.

TV Show - Songland. Last man standing. Friends.
Bucket List Travel Destination- Italy. Maldives. Tahiti.
Things to Collect- Jeweled globes and Petoskey stones

Item on a bookshelf- My photo books

Design Style -Modern contemporary

Kitty’s Notes:  I laughed at Katie’s answer to one of the questions above, because when I first met her, I thought she was her twin sister, but thankfully, I figured it out before I embarrassed myself. Katie is a thoughtful person who loves to have fun and is one of the smiling faces at Chelsea State Bank!  I couldn’t believe the table she made by herself – it was well crafted and artfully made, allowing me to see a side of her I had not known. She may just have to start a side business!
