By Dave Merchant [email protected] So far this season teams have had a real hard time stopping Jags senior running back Nico Tiberia. When he isn’t running through or around people he is playing just as well in the defensive side. Nico is smart as well. This Jag scholar carries a 4.13 GPA. He loves excelling on the field. “It’s a great honor and I am very proud,” Nico commented. “I work extremely hard to be the best football player I can be. A big part of my success can be attributed to my team and coaches as well.” He also plays basketball for Allen Park. Nico is applying to the University of Michigan, University of Illinois, Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin. “I plan walking on to play football at these schools unless a better offer comes my way,” he said. He has one moment that stands out the most. “My favorite moment would be beating Woodhaven on the road in 2018,” he said. “There was an electric feeling the whole game and the silence of the home crowd when we left the stadium made the moment very memorable.” He loves Math and Calculus. His favorite team moment is “Aggressive!” (Stating Dave Cage and team members will know what that means). “Competing gives me this indescribable feeling of fun and thrill,” he said. “Then the satisfaction of winning fuels your want for success.” His parents are Julie and Tony Tiberia. His sister is Gianna and his brother is Ryan. Nico’s girlfriend is Gwen Ruetz. His hobbies include tennis, golf, skiing and spending time with Gwen. Being a Jag is special. “Carrying on the tradition and pride that the Jags have on the field is the best.”
