By Dave Merchant [email protected] From Cabrini Monarch to Central Michigan Chippewa Michaleigh Vallimont has found a college for a scholarship and softball. She has played softball for 13 years. For Cabrini she plays shortstop, for Central she will play Utility. “I had a couple other offers,” Michaleigh said. “I like Coach Margo and the fact she coaches in the Olympics.” She likes the small atmosphere at CMU. She plans on studying business. Her mom has a transportation business. Her travel team is the Beverly Bandits. Last July she was only in Michigan for three days. Last year the Cabrini team fell to Clinton in the regionals. “I love coach Norman,” she said. “She is amazing and she pushes us.” Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Keith and her favorite class is probability and statistics. She likes both Norman and Blevins as coaches. “My favorite high school moment was hitting a grand slam against Regina,” she said. “We still lost.” Her parents are mother LeighAnn and stepfather Damian. Her Dad is Michael and step mom is Agatha. Her step sister is Stella Frederick. Her sister Lilly is a sophomore catcher at Cabrini. She has verbally committed to Northwestern. “I love playing with my sister,” she said. “We compete in home runs. When we throw runners out we give each other a smile.” She has good advice to players.“To be successful you have to love the game,” she said. “You have to love it and it will love you back. Respect the game.” Cabrini varsity softball coach Debbie Norman is excited for her player. “We, at Cabrini, are very excited for Michaleigh on her signing to CMU,” Norman said. “Michaleigh has been a 3 year starter, playing multiple positions for us. She has proven to be an unselfish player and has an unbridled enthusiasm for the game. Last year, Michaleigh was All League, All Catholic, District, Region, and All State.”
