My first visit to 3bird was during Dexter After Dark. I fell in love with the store. Everything in it was so cute and I want rooms in my house to look like this. I wanted to come back after the holidays and do a spotlight. Today, I arrived fairly early with the hope that someone would have time to talk to me.
My timing was perfect. When I arrived, two of the three owners were working and the person they were helping was wrapping up and leaving. During Christmas, the store was full of twinkle lights and Christmas decorations. Today, it felt like Spring with flowers and white rabbits in centerpieces. Easter, but not overdone. As I waited for them to finish, I mentally selected at least 3 housewarming gifts for a friend who is moving soon.
Once they finished, I introduced myself and learned they’d been in business three and a half years, but they have worked together much longer than that. 3bird is a collaboration between three women. The three all had children who graduated from high school the same year, two met through soccer and two met through church. Cathy Swan, Laura Telesco, and Laura Keefer are the owners of 3bird .They formed a bond the way many adult women do, the activities in which their children participate and a shared faith. About 15 years ago, Cathy was the owner of the Home Store. In 2011, Cathy and Laura Telesco opened Nicholes and Stafford where The Dexter Creamery is now located, and Laura Keefer brought apparel to the Home Store in 2013.
3bird is a collaboration in which the three do the buying and staging together. However, if you, like me, love the staging but can’t fathom how to do it on your own, Cathy will spend about 2 hours in your home helping you with furniture location, window coverings and that sort of thing. Cathy can also provide interior design services, beyond the initial in home consultation. Based on the store, I can only imagine the outcome will be gorgeous and magazine photoshoot worthy.
I asked the two owners what is new with the store. They explained that they are now ready for Spring, as I noticed , when I first entered. They have a fun event coming up next month. Ladies Night Out will be held at 3bird on April 16 starting at 5pm. Ladies Night out will showcase clothing, jewelry, and Spring decor. There will be a local photographer on site, as well as wine and chocolate. Come on out and ooh and ahh over the gorgeous items in the store, have some wine, chocolate, and have a nice break from the kids while not having to travel for a fun shopping experience.
