Dexter senior water sport extraordinaire Leo Varitek is a senior with some talent.
He participates in Swimming and Water Polo.
“The highlights of my high school swim experience are winning states in 2018 and 2019, and getting to celebrate with the team,” Leo said.
Favorite class is IB World History
Favorite coaches: “For swimming, Hansen and McHugh are both my favorite coaches because I have been with them all four years, and have formed a valuable relationship with each of them,” he said.
“I plan on attending a four-year university, and have yet to decide which one,” he said.
Why swimming: “My friends during my freshman year told me to swim with them, and I have continued to swim since then, due to the camaraderie of the team,” he said.
His parents are Tom and Tracie Varitek, and his siblings are Anna, Kate, and Maggie.
“I enjoy hanging out with friends, being outdoors, and traveling in my free time,” he said.
Advice for younger athletes is strong: “If I could give one piece of advice to younger athletes it would be no matter how hard it may get, push through the pain because the harder you work, the more rewarding the payoff will be at the end of the season,” he said.
