The Dexter Dreadnaughts hosted 10 teams and over 100 players Saturday on a beautiful fall day. Many of the teams took advantage of the picturesque afternoon to tailgate outside of Wylie elementary and enjoy the day with tents, grills and have an enjoyable experience.
The Dreadnaughts JV Water polo team cruised to 3 victories in as many games during the JV tournament played this past Saturday September 14th. In the first game, the Dreads faced off against Birmingham Groves. Dexter proved to be too much for the Groves squad winning 15-4 in the early morning action. Clayton Kinnard (jr) and Tristan Lorincz(soph) lead the offense with 5 goals each, while Sophomore’s Jack Potsos  tallied 3 goals and Daniel Bialowicz and Joe Sharen chipped in with 1 each. Goalie Griffon Patel (fr) continued his strong play in net contributing to the strong defensive effort.
In their second contest Dexter came up against Hotel (Holt, East Lansing) in a very competitive matchup winning 11-10.The offense was paced by Clayton Kinnard with 6 goals and Tristan Lorincz chipping in with 3. Jack Potsos and Sam Sterlitz(jr) each added 1 goal to close out the scoring in this back and forth affair. In the end, strong defensive play by Dexter helped seal the victory.
In their final game of the day the Dreads were matched up against crosstown rival Ann Arbor Pioneer. Dexter got off to a fast start leading 5-1 at halftime enroute to a 7-2 victory. Newcomer Griffon Patel’s steady play in goal helped lead the Dreads to a comfortable win. Clayton Kinnard was again an offensive juggernaut scoring 5 times to lead the team. He tallied 16 goals over the 3 game stretch and was key to the Dreads success Saturday. Tristan Lorincz another offensive playmaker and Joe Sharon added 1 goal each. The Dexter JV water polo squad continues to improve as they gain valuable game experience with a host of young players contributing to the team’s success.
