Kitty & Company will be conducting a series of short interviews with Chelsea Residents for 52 weeks, bringing to light differing personalities and design styles in our community.  Perhaps you will meet someone new through these weekly interviews or perhaps it will be YOU! Stay tuned and follow us each week – we now introduce you to Mrs. Jill Moyer.

What is your current profession?  Flooring Sales and Service for 23 years.
Your family members:   My husband Randy of 33 years,  2 married daughters, 1 step son and 2 wonderful grandsons.
Where did you live prior to this? We moved to Chelsea in 1995 and prior to that Westland which is where my husband grew up.
What do you love about where you currently live? I love pretty much everything about where I live now. Especially the peacefulness of country living.
If you could have a second home anywhere, where would it be?  We do – and it’s on  the water up north.
What three words describe your style? Casual, relaxed, organized.
Who most influenced your design styles? I get to work with a lot of great customers and designers and I would say they all influence me by allowing me to work in their homes and see a range of wonderful different decorating styles.
What are you most inspired by in your design/decor? Nature.
As you think about the home in which you grew up, what elements did you like and do you think you have incorporated some of them in your own home? Honestly nothing!  Having a style wasn't a big deal back then.
When entering your home, how do you want it to feel?  Comfortable and inviting.
What is one element in design you do not like?  I am not a fan of bright colors.
Have you ever built a new home or remodeled an existing one?
We built our current home.
What is the biggest design issue you struggle with? Paint color. It's so hard to get it right with the way it changes in the light etc.
If you are a pet owner, how has that influenced your choices in design, if it has? We just had to say good- bye to our sweet old dog, but I think taking pets into consideration with flooring is one of the most important decisions.
Have you ever sought professional help with the interior design of your home ?   I think just having a professional to bounce ideas off and to help make decisions is extremely helpful! It takes away a lot of the pressure of building/remodeling.
Have you stayed true to a style through the years, or have you fluctuated in your tastes? I would say I have definitely changed styles over the years. I mean I had pineapple wallpaper and couch back in the late 80's!
If you were moving and could only select one item from your home to keep, what would it be and why? Dining room table because it is where the family sits when they come home. I always want my kids and grandkids to feel welcome and comfortable when they are here.
Which room in your home gets the most use? Please give any explanation as well: Our kitchen/dining for sure gets the most use. Especially now during Quarantine.
Name an item you purchased for your home that you regret buying:
Memory foam mattress.
No room is complete without: A welcoming feeling.
By nature I am :  a Minimalist.
If you were given $1,000 to buy a new piece of art, what would it be?  A landscape or wilderness scene.
Has any local venue particularly caught your eye - if so why?
We love sitting outside and enjoying a refreshing drink and meal. I am hopeful Chelsea gets more of that soon!
What are you currently doing to pass the time during the COVID-19 State shutdown? I took up knitting when the shutdown happened. We did some minor updating in our home. I also took up complaining way more than normal! I am hoping that soon shall pass.
A few of your favorite things!
Movie – The Green Mile.
Historical Place You Have Visited- It’s hard to select because I love all old historical places.
Scent- Lilac.
Music–   Easy Rock Music.
Meal-  Brunch.
TV show-  Yellowstone.
Travel Destination – Cabo San Lucas.
Season-  Fall.
Color- Does Black count?
Design Trend/ Style-   Transitional.
Hobbies- Spending time with family.
Tree or Plant – Lilac Bush.
Item on a bookshelf  - Family photos.
Dogs or Cats?  Dogs!
Kitty’s note:  Jill was a blessing that came into my life at just the right time!  She has helped me with so many flooring projects for clients, and quite frankly is the best at it.  She is thoroughly educated in her products! She is also just a downright kind and funny person.  She somehow manages to do the work of 3 people in one day. I’m still trying to figure that out!  She and her husband have not only built their home, but have built a successful business as well as remodeled an adorable home on an island in Northern Michigan.
